Insta360 Proposal
I would like to document a unique perspective of 'wild inspiration' when I travel into the remote nooks and crannies of the Alaskan Katmai from July 31-August 16. I'm headed there with a very small group of professional guides to capture images of the grizzlies feasting frantically on the salmon as they reach the end of their spawning cycle. The grizzly population here, is one of the densest in the world!

Because we are in such remote locations during a time of year when these grizzlies are focused entirely on catching and eating the fish, we will have the very rare opportunity to be within feet of these majestic creatures. If the water runs clear and/or the younger bears are forced out to fish in the smaller pools surrounding the falls, my goal is to anchor a submerged camera (5.7K 360 lens) to capture the thousands of fish beneath the surface. I'm picturing a bear walking right by the camera or even spearing a fresh catch beneath the surface while filming.

A second camera, will sit right at the water's surface (5.3K 1-Inch 1ens) to showcase both above and below surface life (like a salmon's perspective of the inevitable). It will also be used to capture the bear's movement as they occasionally brush past us on their way to or from the fishing holes. Or as they punch the water's surface feeling for the fish beneath!

I am currently a Canon Canada Ambassador and have already confirmed that the Insta360 is NOT a breech of the non-compete potion in my contract, and in fact they are VERY excited about how this will all come together!
Having used the insta360 previously to film my son (@matechuk) XGames /Monster Energy Athlete, I know the unique perspective this camera can capture and feel it would be the perfect for such an endeavor!
The areas we'll be travelling to are very remote and virtually untraveled. Access is only by private float plane so it should provide perspective that is rarely seen in capturing the ferocity and beauty of our Canadian wilderness as well as the inhabitants that call it home. A tribute to how we can leverage technology to capture, educate and share the raw beauty of nature.
