ALASKA BEAR CAMP
PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
Welcome to the heart of Alaska
DESTINATION KATMAI NATIONAL PARK, ALASKA
Picture this; As your float pane lands in a remote paradise, just past the banks you see the powerful Alaskan brown bears grazing in nearby fields. A pristine, rugged terrain combining sandy shores, crystal clear rivers and fields of flowing grass. This paradise is now your home for the next 4 days. Just a short walk from where our float plane shores up, our private camp awaits. But this isn't your dad's camping. Your new home base is far from civilization and surprisingly well appointed given how remote the area. But the real wow, we are free of distraction and completely immersed in this experience, ready to embrace the natural world.
As you walk into camp and look around you might hardly believe you're here. But this is Alaska with its white capped peaks, rocky shorelines. And as many bear populations around the world decline, Katmai provides some of the few remaining unaltered habitats for these amazing creatures. At Katmai, scientists are able to study bears in their natural habitat, visitors are able to enjoy unparalleled viewing opportunities, and the bears are able to continue their life cycle largely undisturbed.
Not a professional photographer? Or looking to bring a companion that isn't a photographer... not a problem! We are focused on creating an inclusive environment that is dedicated to delivering profound visual experiences for each and every guest we're travelling with. And if that means you just want to sit and be present, we want you to experience the beauty of the the Katmai, in YOUR own way.

BEAR CAMP - ITINERARY
ARRIVAL
Your adventure begins in the remote hamlet of Kodiak Alsaka, USA. Your flight should arrive late morning-early evening where you can take a shuttle to the hotel of your choosing. After check in, feel free to peruse the local shops or just kick back and rest. We will meet for a group dinner (location TBA) and a chance to meet your fellow travellers.
DAY 1
We will depart Kodiak in the late morning. Transfers will pick you up to deliver you to our chartered flight which will land us on the shores of Katmai in the early afternoon (weather dependant). We will carry our gear into camp, go through protocols and tent assignment, then head out into the flats to visit the bears, photographing right through to sunset (around 10pm)
DAY 2 - 3
The next 2 days are filled with intimate bear encounters. Up as early as 5am for those who want to capture bears clamming at sunrise or sleep in and wake to a fresh brewed coffee in the mountain air. After breakfast, we pack out with a field lunch/snacks and spend a day viewing all sorts of bear activity. Lunch in the field and a late return under golden light providies an epic photo op before dinner back at camp.
DAY 4
Packing the night before, we will enjoy breakfast in the community tent before final trek out to spend time with the bears. By 3-4pm we should be returning to camp to grab our bags, and head back to the shoreline for out chartered flight back to Kodiak. That evening you can enjoy the comfort & amenities of the hotel before gathering for one last dinner together before departing the following day.
